I was just really learning to live….

and the loft opened our Easter series entombed and lofters were reminded that “we need to die to something so that God can really move in our lives.” Ouch.

Yea, I get it.  I got lots of baggage and much dying to do so God can really move through me. How about you?  More to come with loft blogs and Scribbles about dying and living.  Stay tuned.

wackos, weirdos and grace

I’m been reading about the lives of some of the great creative artists of old getting ready for another trip to France next fall.  Although I know by name or sight many of the famous paintings, drawings, sculptures and writings, I only had scratched the surface of learning about their personal lives.  After all, I’m a business guy.

I’m glad I’m just plain bob and mostly a type-a personality (DS for DISC fans) although my Rx meds have made me more creative, so…I’m getting nervous.  I can’t believe I even attempted writing new lyrics to Hallelujah…but that’s another story.

I read almost daily now about the tragic lives (and deaths) of  many of the artists (mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, abusive personalities, general weirdness,  etc.  I’m thankful that I am pursuing God with passion, satisfied with the me He created, desiring to improve self and make a worthwhile contribution.  That seems more “normal” to me.

Most of all, even with warts, crows-feet, lumps, bumps, pot belly, flat feet, ear hair and “no hair” on top, I do feel that I am grace-filled….thanks be to God and that’s the most important gift of all.

I feel a blog coming on.  Stay tuned to Scribbles and the loft blog,  just plain bob – peace.

well…well

I thought it might be interesting to muse about what I’m discovering during this season of life….and what God has called me to do.

Let me begin by saying I am not a professional writer, editor, theologian or pastor.  I’m not selling anything…just passionate about sharing what life has shown me about what is important.  I’m just plain old ‘Bob’…often even to wife, children and eight grandkids.  I like it that way.  I’m also known as ‘uncle bob’ to some of the young European Christians.  I, also, like that.

So, this site is simply my thoughts on how I see life—-I consider myself a student of life now.  Often I’ll muse about what I am observing here in the Houston area, in the U.S. and around the world—the site is in a way a “laboratory” for the four blogs I write or contribute to.

I’m also chief dreamer for TeamLoft, a friend of The Loft Church, in the greater Houston, Texas area.  If 2010 is a good writing year, I’d love to publish a devotional guide for like-minded believers (based on the 4 blogs) next year.

Stay tuned.  More later.

Just plain Bob-out
